3 Kenyan Hotels Make World’s Best Hotels 2012 list

Three Kenyan hotels made it in the World’s Best Hotels 2012 list released by Travel+Leisure Magazine based in New York.
Kenya’s Fairmont Mara Safari Club, in the Masai Mara National Reserve closes out the top 20 best hotels in the world for the year 2012 in the newly released World’s Best Hotels 2012 list while andBeyond Kichwa Tembo also in the Masai Mara and Fairmount Mt Kenya Safari Club in Nanyuki close out in the top 50.
For the second year in a row, Singita Grumeti Reserves in Tanzania’s Serengeti National Park has scooped the top spot as the best hotel in the world.
Singita received a score of 98.24 out of 100 based on reader surveys a tad bit lower than last year which was 98.44.
The Fairmont Mara Safari Club received a score of 94.84 while the andBeyond Kichwa Tembo scored 94.48 out of 100 and was ranked no.27; Fairmount Mt Kenya Safari Club in Nanyuki (93.60) which came in at no.46.
The Mara Safari Club was praised for 50 tents on the Mara River (a prime hippo-viewing spot), with a slew of activities, including traditional African dinners served in a boma. The honor points to luxurious accommodations which include tented suites featuring four-poster beds graced with duvets and plaid accent fabrics.
Other notable features include colonial furnishings in all and outdoor showers in some bring a sense of history and location to this safari outpost. In addition, private verandas survey the active hippo and crocodile scene below as guests sip British tea or wine and nosh on African specialties of barbecued meats and fresh, local produce.
