Last week, an inaugural test run for the standard gauge railway (SGR) on a passenger train between Nairobi and Mombasa with one stop along the way was successfully carried out.
The journey which took about six and a half hours started from Nairobi at about 9.30 am arriving in Mombasa at 4pm.
The train covered abut 472 km and it made its first stop at Mtito Andei station. The stop was about two hours.
It did not stop at the other stops which include Voi, Kibwezi, Mariakani, Miasenyi, Emali and Athi River.
