Larry Madowo has given his reason for leaving his show “The Trend” which airs on NTV on Fridays.
The renowned TV presenter said that he has enjoyed his time hosting The Trend but it is time for him to move on as everyone seems to be copying the show.
“If you look at Friday night television in Kenya now, everyone is trying to do what I have done. Yes, I said it. Everyone is trying to do what I have done,” Madowo explained. “They are copying the trend. Everybody in every channel. I can’t compete with my students anymore. People are trying to be me, so its time to move on. That’s the simple reason.
Madowo first made the announcement on social media but did not give a reason at the time. His last show will be on June 30.
In addition to The Trend, Madowo is the anchor for NTV prime time news and also writes his own column Front Row in the Daily Nation.
The Trend started in December 2012 and the show has been a hit with viewers. He has hosted a wide range of personalities tackling various issues.
