Dr Alfred Mutua has been sworn in as Machakos Governor. Mutua was sworn in by lady Justice Lilian Mutende at Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos. In his inaugural speech, Dr. Mutua said his government’s priority is to deliver efficient services and rid the county of corrupt and lazy officers who cannot deliver.
“Laziness, don’t care attitude and corrupt leaders will not be tolerated in my government as well as those who cannot change these habits will face the full force of the law,” he said.
He said Kenyans live in a competitive world and to eliminate poverty, the residents of Machakos must strive to create wealth and attract investors both locally and internationally to invest in the region. He also assured the locals that his government will ensure that their rights are protected within the law.
The ceremony was attended by outgoing Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka. Mr Musyoka was accompanied by several recently-elected MPs, senators, County representatives, and public servants. Prof. Kibwana was sworn in by Justice Eric Ogolla at Wote Stadium and Dr Malombe sworn by Lady Justice Beatrice Jaden at Kitui Stadium.
