A Kenyan family is seeking assistance in raising funds to help repatriate the body of their kin who drowned in a South Carolina river back to Kenya.
Fred Ochieng Babu, 35, passed away of June 18th after an accidental drowning in Congaree river in South Carolina.
He was swimming near the Gervais Street when he became distressed and went missing around 11am.
At the time of his drowning, Babu was with three other swimmers when they became overwhelmed by the river.
One of the swimmers was able to get to some nearby rocks while the other two were helped by a person who was nearby who noticed they were in trouble.
Babu however went underwater and was not seen again until he was retrieved by the search crew which included dive teams, boats and a helicopter.

Their immediate need is to have his remains repatriated from Columbia, South Carolina to his final resting place in Kenya.
Funeral expenses are only the beginning for this family.
