A Kenyan man in Greensburg, Illinois was arrested last week on suspicion of rape after a woman called the police to a local hotel.

Teddy M. Muriithi, 38, of Hoffman, Illinois, was arrested on Wednesday at about 1.30 am at the Baymont Inn after the victim reported rape.

Muriithi’s accuser told police that he committed sexual acts but she was “unaware that the sexual intercourse or other sexual conduct is occurring.”

He is facing a preliminary charge of Rape which is a Level 3 felony and carries a maximum of 16 years in prison if convicted.

During an initial court appearance at the Decatur County Circuit Court Wednesday afternoon, Muriithi pleaded not guilty to the crime and bond was set at $250,000

A trial has been scheduled for August 30.
