President Uhuru Kenyatta is addressing Kenyans after the Supreme Court ruling which invalidated his re-election in August.
In his live broadcast address to the nation on Friday, President Kenyatta said his win was as a result of “the will of the people”.
He called on Kenyans to maintain peace and vowed to beat his arch-rival Raila Odinga and his Nasa brigade at the ballot in the repeat polls due in 60 days.
“Your neighbour will always remain your neighbour irregardless…” he said.
Four judges sitting on the bench ruled in favor of NASA’s petition asking President Uhuru’s re-election to be nullified citing massive irregularities in the just concluded polls.
Two judges, Njoki Ndung’u and Jackton Ojwang ruled against the petition.
Chief Justice David Maraga said the Independent Boundaries and Electoral Commision (IBEC) did not conduct the election in a free and fair manner.
