Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader Raila Odinga has been named as the National Super Alliance (NASA) flag bearer in the upcoming general elections.

Raila,72, will be pitted against the incumbent President Uhuru Kenyatta who is the de facto flag bearer of the ruling Jubilee party.

His running mate will be Wiper Party’s Kalonzo Musyoka while ANC leader Musalia Mudavadi has been tapped for the position of Premier Cabinet Secretary.

Mudavadi’s position will be created after the elections if NASA romps to victory.

The other two principals in the NASA coalition who include Moses Wetang’ula (Ford Kenya), and Isaac Rutto (CCM), will deputize Mudavadi with each serving as his deputies with equal ranks.

Wetangula has been tapped for the position of Deputy Premier Cabinet Secretary in charge of Public Service while Rutto will be in charge of the State Department of Devolution and Planning.

Raila has unsuccessfully contested the top seat in land three times. In 2007, he was pitted against the incumbent president Daniel Arap Moi where he finished third behind Mwai Kibaki. He contested again in 2007 where he lost to eventual winner Mwai Kibaki.

In 2013, he went against Uhuru and lost.
