The results of the US Diversity Visa (DV) Programme 2019 are set to be released on May 15, 2018 at 12 noon EST. The visa is commonly known as the Green Card.
Entrants can now check the statuses of their applications via the website: http://www.dvlottery.state.gov, using confirmation numbers they received after they put in their applications.
The registration period for the DV-2019 was Wednesday October 18th through November 22, 2017.
Initially, the program started on Tuesday, October 3rd, 2017, and was expected to end on November 7th, 2017 but a computer glitch occurred affecting entries made before October 18th. Those who had submitted before then had to re-apply.
The DV programme makes up to 50,000 immigrant visas available annually, drawn from random selection among all entries to individuals who are from countries with low rates of immigration to the United States, according to US Department of State.
The lottery winners immigrate through consular processing and issuance of an immigrant visa.
The program is the “2019” lottery because applicants register in 2017; interview in 2018; and—if selected and approved—receive Green Cards in 2019.
“Those selected will be asked to submit additional information and will be notified when they are selected for an interview. The in-person interview will be with a U.S. Consular Officer, who will decide if the applicant is eligible to receive the visa based on requested documents including medical and police clearance as well as and payment of visa fees at the Embassy.”
