Interior cabinet secretary Fred Matiang’i has announced that three television stations will remain off air until investigations into the broadcast of the Raila “swearing in” are complete.
NTV, KTN and Citizen were switched off by the Communication Authority as they were airing the event from Uhuru Park although most Kenyans were able to watch live coverage on social media and international TV channels.
“As a result of what happened yesterday, we have commenced investigations targeting individuals,” he said. “Media houses will remain closed until we complete investigations.”
KBC and K24 signals were not affected because they complied with the government’s directive not to cover the event.
Royal Media which owns Citizen TV also had Inooro TV transmission cut off.
