[VIDEO] Kenyan Silayio thrills audience at the The Voice-Holland singing competition

Many Kenyans have by now heard of Silayio from Kenya who is taking part in The Voice singing competition in Holland.

She has been thrilling audiences in Holland and Kenyans on social media have been rooting for her to go all the way in the competition which entered the knockout phase on Friday.

Silayio whose real name is Neema Ntalel is an experienced singer having won the All Africa KORA Award for best female artist-Eastern Africa in 2005. She has also featured in Groove Awards.

In 2003, she recorded her first single which was nominated for an AGMA- American Gospel Music Award, for best international act.

She attended Maryhill High school before heading Daystar University where she studied Media and Communication.

Silayio is also into drama. In 2010 she was a part of ‘Daughters of Africa’ theater production which brought together 12 women from different African countries who sought to present the bright and correct image of the continent.

She is from Kajiado though she spent most of her childhood in Nairobi

Silayio on Friday performed at the competition’s live shows where she did “Runnin” by Naughty Boy ft. Beyoncé.

In December, she took on another competitor Lara Mallo in the Battle session of the competition. This was the moment which was very well received.

This was her November performance in the competition’s blind auditions phase where she sang Christina Aguilera’s ‘The Voice Within’, managing to get the attention of two of the judges who turned their chairs.
